Just Imagine---is possible at this hour /stage
In earlier to 1970s, Kirthigai star days special buses were
ply from kodambakkam Railway station to vadapalani temple and also people can hire jadka at the kodambakkam Railway
station ( a horse-drawn vehicle is a mechanized piece of equipment pulled by
one horse.
These vehicles typically had two wheels
were used to carry passengers .They were once common worldwide, but they
have mostly been replaced by automobiles.
These things are remembered by the old residents of kodambakkam.
Now buses can not operate from kodambakkam Railway station due to encroachments in and
around kodambakkam Railway station .These kind
of jadkas are faded out due to modernisation of transport.
This information (Blogg) is just to recollect the old
memories.

A popular saying in Tamil goes Kalyanam panni paar Veedu katti paar
can be the most toughest task a man can endure in his lifetime. Our family members succeeded.
Smt.
Vedam Srinivasan my mother and family
members had a single storied house in New No.17, Old.No.5, Main Road ,Zackria Colony,
Choolaimedu,Chennai-94 standing on a piece of land measuring around two grounds
.
The
family members were interested in converting into apartments, so that
the
family members can provide fairly large sized apartment each one of our family
members.Family
members were on the lookout for a builder for a joint venture, who would be
quality conscious and ethical in business principles.
In
and around Zackria Colony and Kodambakkam, we found many new buildings carrying
the Chennai R.A.S constructions logo, this gave us the confidence that we would
be dealing with a company that has stood not only the test of time but was also
reliable and trustworthy. Their designs and elevations are wonderful, and in all the apartments had
good provisions for sufficient cross ventilation. Family members admired the
most in them was their steadfast adherence to ethical practices in all their
operations.
The
company has successfully completed many projects. Today the Company has to its
credit over 3 lakhs sq. ft. of built up
quality space, with such rich, novel comforts and conveniences. Behind all these Master pieces lies the
legend, the young and dynamic Managing Director Shri. A.S.George. Ex.
Councillor of this area. The chennai R.A.S Construtions is a well known name in
the city of Chennai.
The
Family members were particular about Quality and Non Deviation. We made
enquiries of the feed back about Chennai
R.A.S Constructions , and was quite satisfied. We, then ventured to meet
Sri.A.S.George Managing Director of Chennai R.A.S.Constructions .
Family
members were quite impressed. We felt that he is conscious of quality, rules
and regulations and more importantly he adheres to ethical business practices . We truly felt comfortable in his
presence and knew at once that we had found our builder.
Apart from all these things Sri. A.S.George is
our family friend.
The
family members entered into a Joint Venture Agreement( 2010). with
Sri.A.S.George Managing Director of Chennai R.A.S.Constructions and with a lot
of detail.
He
handed over completed building with reasonable time frame. Friends who visited
during construction praised the quality of work. Visitors after completion were
impressed with finish and design. It gave us immense pleasure and we very happy
with the great job that they did.

R.A.S Constructions definitely does not fail to impress and gives us immense
pleasure in owning a home. We the family members are express our utmost Thanks
and Appreciation to Sri.A.S.George, Managing Director of Chennai R.A.S.Constructions
The
staffs were most co-operative and accommodative in accepting suggestions for
minor modifications. Hard-Work, dedicated workforce, skilled labour, extremely professional architects and
engineers have contributed .
Engineer Sri N..Kanagasabai, he is a man of
Principle, sincerity,loyal,and dedicated person. We are proud of his
association with us.
Similarly Sri.D.Raja Singh is also very
good with all and soft nature man.
Our
family were completely satisfied with their association and our best wishes go
to Sri.A.S.George.,Sri.N.Kanagasabai ,Sri. D.Raja Singh and all others in the
company.

I was born as the first son to my parents Late sri.N.Srinivasan
and Smt.Vedam Srinivasan in the year 1950 at my maternal grandfather’s house at
Ramanathan Street, T. Nagar.
I did my elementary level schooling at Saraswathy Vidhayalaya,
Kodambakkam and high school level at Sri Ramakrishna Mission Boys High
School.(Main) T.Nagar and graduated with
B.Com degree from New College, Chennai.
Married my soulmate Ms.Radha in the year 1981. She has been my
support throughout the journey. I have two children, Daughter Pavithra married
to Prasidh Ramabadran and has grand-son Baby Ayan, and Son Venkatesh
married to Shravanthy and has grand-son chi.Adithiya.
I served at Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation Ltd for more
than 30 years in different roles, Liaison officer, Sales Development officer,
Assistant Public Relations Officer and retired as Public Relations
Officer. During my tenure, apart from my regular duties, the two
important tasks that I have lead were that of General Secretary to Tamil Nadu
Civil Supplies Corporation Ltd. Central Sports Council in the year 1995 and the
work regarding the 22nd International film festival 1991.
My Association
Naraseva,
Narayanaseva is my Tharaga Manthra. I believe that
Happiness is found in helping others.
This year 2018 is the 50th year of my Social
Activities. The span of 50 years of my Social Service was not a smooth one. If
I’m proud of something, it is the time and effort I had put in for 50 years in
various social Activities. My small contribution to the society gives me a
sense of satisfaction and bliss. I strongly believe that one’s action should be
remembered even after gone. I’m happy that I have no regrets and have given
back something to the society.
Let
me narrate my Social Activities in 50
years .
v Shanthi Arts Academy (1968 to 1988 )
A group of enthusiastic and enlightened
youngsters, inspired by the ideals of art founded
the Shanthi Arts Academy (a
cultural organization) on
28-9-1968.The main objective of the
academy is to promote art.Got associated with it as early as 18 years of
age (in 1968)
· Have been instrumental in conducting more than
500 Cultural programmes
v Zackria Colony Resident’s Welfare Association (1980-till date)
I
have been a resident of Zackria colony (Choolaimedu) since childhood.
Quite few of the residents of the Zackria colony felt that adequate security
and civic amenities had not been provided. This exigency prompted the conveners
into forming a welfare association in Dec.1980
I was
the founder Secretary of the Welfare Association and forefront in conducting
many awareness programmes organized by Zackria Colony Residents Welfare
Association
·
For a decade until 1990, I have served
actively in the association in different capacities
·
I had to take a break from my involvement with
the association for 9 years until 1999 as I had to work outside Chennai on my
official transfer at Civil Supplies Corporation. After 2006 association activities slowly detrimental due to various
reasons. In these years I used to address the problems individually.
After a long
gap, in the year 2015, I had revived the Zackria Colony Resident’s Welfare Association. Many resident members
volunteered and participated in the
meetings and various activities. Now it is alive and kicking.
At
this juncture, as a Chief Co-ordinator of Zackria Colony Residents Welfare
Association I congratulate the President and Secretary members of the past and also
all those who worked for the welfare of the association, for their yeomen services,
exemplary commitment and utmost dedication all of which has helped Zackria
Colony Residents Welfare Association to grow strong. The volunteers were the jewels
of Zackria Colony. All of us have grown old physically together, however, our
spirit and enthusiasm remain youthful.
I salute their contribution and dedicate the success of all
our accomplishments to them .
v Choolaimedu Exnora Innovator’s Club (2000-till date)
I
entered Exnora, not out of conscious desire, it was by an accident in the year
2000. Choolaimedu Exnora was born with the blessings of former Mayor, Mr.
M.K.Stalin.
I was
nominated as a Secretary to Choolaimedu Exnora Innovator’s Club(CEIC) by Exnora
International in July 2000. Biggest strength of our club is the support and
co-operation of the club members.
During
my schooldays, I had never been on stage, but, today, I stand as the Secretary
of the club for continuous eighteen years and I have hosted several public
programmes on stage. It is astonishing to understand what drove me to this
point. I was an average boy at school and college, but something transformed to
an extraordinary performer later.
The biggest gift I received from
Exnora is that I gained hundreds of new friends among the Choolaimedu
residents. In Exnora, every individual is quite unique and has something
special to contribute.
I have been at the forefront of several Projects organized in
Choolaimedu area. In 215 months, so far 132 Meetings /Awareness programmes have
been conducted

dedicate the success and my accomplishments to Mr. Nirmal.
My special thanks to Mr.R.Govindaraj,
Joint General Secretary of Exnora who is an outstanding social worker. He
mentored me during the initial days and helped me transform into the new role
quickly and smooth. He is one of the most distinguished person, an
outstanding social worker, a great humanist and a great leader. I am proud of
my association with him who is considered an asset to the Exnora international.
I convey my thanks to Sri
Dr.A.Panneerselvam (President of the Choolaimedu Exnora) for the
encouragement he has given to me all these years for the successful running of
the Choolaimedu Exnora.
I’m sure Choolaimedu Exnora will move
faster and will do much. Leadership in Exnora is very different. It means more
loses than gains, more hard work, more sacrifice, more sleepless nights, more
financial obligations, more commitments and above all, the most precious
personal time . Despite all hardships, Exnorans take up smiles in their faces and pleasure in
their hearts.
I believe that progress is
impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds, cannot
change anything.
Currently, I serve as the Vice
President in Exnora International, Secretary in Choolaimedu Exnora Innovator's
Club, Life member in Indian Red Cross Society and Member in the Disaster
Management Committee in YMCA Kilpauk.
More than what I gave for Exnora, what
I received is ten folds. I gained number of friends, which I feel is a
privilege and a gift in one’s life. It will be hard to believe in the age of
social networking that we maintain our friendship and networking without the
help of Facebook and Whatsapp. My friendship with Mr.M.B.Nirmal, Mr.R.Govindaraj
and Dr.A.Panneerselvam has been very special. Today, I dedicate the huge
success of my Exnora life to them.
I am very popular among the residents
of Choolaimedu and influential among the officials of the Greater
Chennai Corporation , Metro Water , Police Department and EB. I have
known nothing more than solving civic issues and being a liaison between the
public and Govt officials.
With the grace of God and my faith in
my mission, the journey has been long. I don’t see an end to it, simply because
I feel that my work is never ending.
What
I have done is very little. There is much more to do.
As far as I am concerned, I live in
the present and look towards the future. Great public person come and go, but
what remains behind are some unforgettable impressions and heroic deeds, which
transform the society for good.
From
inauguration to this 18th year I have been speaking to the members from Dias.
This has been possible only because of members affection and support. As a
secretary, I pay tribute to the former President, former office bearers of our
club who have contributed to the growth of this great club. Today I bow my head
in homage to the memory of our late members.
I would like to thank the Hon’ble
Mayor, the elected representatives, our founder, office bearers of Choolaimedu
Exnora, officers of Chennai Corporation, Metro water, Police Department and
Electricity Board who have spared their support.
I take this opportunity to thank all
the noble hearts who appreciated and encouraged our activities. I pay tribute
to all those who worked for the upliftment of the Choolaimedu residents. What
one achieves for the sake of others is greater success than what one achieves
for oneself
I would like to tell you that the
Choolaimedu Exnora is marching ahead on the road to progress. There is no doubt
about it. Our commitment should not be to any individual but to the future of
Exnora. We are committed to it. Our job is to enhance and pass it on to the
future leadership in a sound condition. As a secretary, I want to assure
members that no effort will be spared by me to achieve this. I sincerely
believe that Choolaimedu Exnora will keep rendering its services to the area
with dedication and enthusiasm for the years to come.
As a secretary of Choolaimedu Exnora, I salute everyone and wish a
great model area-to-be Choolaimedu

I have friends in all parties. My friends have spread all over
the political spectrum, so I have good friends in the DMK,AIADMK, BJP,
Congress, and the other political parties too. They call on me as friend viz
versa I used to call on them.
I like to stress on one thing, if you constantly keep looking
back and harping on what goes on in the past, we cannot go on, can't do any public
service. So if insisted on what transpired in the past, and dwell on issues
that happened in the past, we will stagnate. It will preventing from moving
forward. As far as I am concerned, I live in the present and look towards the
future.
Great public person come and go, but what
remains behind are some unforgettable impressions and heroic deeds, which
transform the society for good.
Here’s listing few most influential public
person ( who come across in my social activities) who helped to shape the Social Structure of Tamil
Nadu /Chennai particularly Choolaimedu area.

1)Former Mayor, Thiru.
Ma. Subramanian
Under the leadership of our former Mayor, Thiru. Ma. Subramanian,
and with the co-operation of all councilors , he was able to fulfill most of
the needs of the people during his tenure as Mayor.
Achievements in education, health, infrastructure development,
solid waste management even in revenue department he has made rapid stride.
Massive tree planting , main roads
revamped with street gardens, fountains, large number of sodium vapour
lamps and introduction of private conservancy, introduction of gas burners at the burial grounds, banning
of spitting ,smoking, in the public places, pasting
up of posters in the over bridges , illumination of bus stands, massive
health camps ,new initiatives including online tender systems, online property
tax collection, provision of birth certificate within 24 hours of an infant
birth and engaging burial ground workers as corporation staff ,were some of the
high lights of the his (Mayor’s) achievements.
As a Mayor ,he regularly conducts inspections and appears to
have a positive outlook about Chennai’s development. Supervision is important.
Otherwise work won't get done and even the contractor won't do his work. He
used to inspect the work site. The Most of the work has completed in his tenure
.The constructions of bridges in Chennai are boon to the residents of Chennai.
There are many problems in Chennai Corporation and he has worked
hard as Mayor to fix these problems. In
general, the functioning of Chennai Corporation has been praised by all. Above
all, Mayor has moved with people closely and ,it has resulted ,he has been
regarded as a people’s mayor. There are so many stars in the sky. But it's the
moon that is most visible. Just like our Former Mayor Ma.Subramanian.
All along
these years, i have been an admirer of him, I have been seeing him from far
away, his developments, and i think again
the time is ripe for him to do the service to the people. He is under
tremendous strain all these years. He would be the best person to know it.
Chennai needs more service minded persons like our former Mayor
Ma.Subramanian .

2)Former Minister
Smt.B.Valarmathi
Former Minister Smt.B.Valarmathi has moved with people closely
and has been regarded as a people’s Minister. As a Minister, she regularly conducted inspections
and appears to have a positive outlook about the development particularly
Choolaimedu. Iam so pleased by this statement .
AIADMK Government’s
efforts , in RWH and the New
Veeranam scheme are the milestone in the political populastic Government schemes and for opening
up of Catering services at a subsidized rates of Idli, Sambar rice, Curd rice
in all the wards in Chennai.
As MLA Smt. B.Valarmathi former
Minister for Social Welfare and Nuturious Noon Meal Programme, Government of
Tamil Nadu she has taken efforts to install the seating facilities at the
Nungambakkam burial ground to facilatate the elderly persons who are all
attending the funeral . Our former MLA/former Minister Smt.B.Valarmathi’s prompt action shall be highly appreciated and
deserves to be lauded. The action is like
In Tamil proverb “ Ell endral ennaiyaai eruppan”.
Further ,I record with great satisfaction that she has arranged
to fix the reflective laminated Street Name boards in all the streets in
Zackria Colony and in all the streets in
Sowrastra Nagar Choolaimedu .She has an instrumental in introducing the Small bus Services at the Choolaimedu area.
Our MLA/former Minister Smt.B.Valarmathi has attended the grievances
immediately.I have had a very many occassions to personally satisfy about her
services. The attitude towards public impressed me very much. The services,
exemplary commitment, utmost dedication have
helped the residents
.
I am very much thankful for the esteemed support. She is helping
the environment and improve the quality of life of the Choolaimedu residents.
I have to congratulate the
former Minister for the Excellent
way she has taken care of the people.
I wish all the best in her service to
humanitarian. I wish former Minister an everlasting life and success. May
she win many laurals in the future. I salutes her contribution.

3)Dr. M.B.Nirmal ( Founder Exnora International)
Dr. M. B. Nirmal, Founder Of Exnora International is a globally known
motivator, innovator, change maker, mind-programmer, humorist, orator, trainer,
environmentalist, social reformer and social activist. He is Founder of Exnora
International and Fifth Pillar and various other organizations.
Exnora is a voluntary body where professionals, meet to exchange
views and informations, to learn and share ideas. The meetings help members to
discuss current development and application in various fields. We can learn
from information pooled by the specialists.
Most people are aware of Civic Exnora which is active in most
localities in the Chennai today. The guidelines for these local organizations
are given by Mr. Nirmal himself. Everyday, new bond of youngsters are being
trained to carry the good work to a new place and spread of excellence, radical
thinking and novelty. In spite of tight schedule, he maintains a cheerful smile
and a welcoming word for all. He motivates his volunteers to give the best.
My thanks to Dr. M.B.Nirmal for his advice and guidance given to me in
running an organization. He is able to
successfully mobilize the people resource which could change as social capital
and render service to various segments . His
activities and thoughts guided the society
to a new beginning in
keeping the streets clean and tidy.He bought the revolution by
making radical changes in the society. His
activities and thoughts guided the society to a new beginning.
Mr.
Nirmal is an inspiration to me, whatever
I can contribute to the society is because of his wishes and support. Whatever
the image and whatever the appreciations that I have received in these years
are just because of his support and guidance. I offer my accomplishments to Mr.
Nirmal .

My special thanks to
Mr.R.Govindaraj, Joint General Secretary of Exnora, he is an outstanding social
worker and a memorable personality who
has given all encouragements to me in the social activities. He has been instrumental in assisting
the entire innovators club in Chennai in their development. I cherish my
personal association with him. He is one of the most distinguished person, an
outstanding social worker, a great humanist and a great leader. He combined

Dr.A.Panneer Selvam
has studied his D.Diab from the Madras Medical College in the year 1989.
For over a decade, Dr.
Paneerselvam has been an Asst. Prof of Diabetology at the Kilpauk Medical
College.
A pioneer in the field, he has assumed many
roles of responsibility and holds positions in numerous Associations.
Innumerable awards stand testimony to his incessant and tireless service to
humanity.
The
Government of Tamil Nadu conferred on him the ‘Best Doctor’ award in the year
1997 for his meritorious service.
The
Chengalpattu Madras Medical College Alumni honoured acclaimed diabetologist,
Dr. A Paneerselvam with the Life time Achievement Award in August 2007
The
Lions Club of Central Madras bestowed on Dr. Paneerselvam the prestigious LION
DR.C.V. ANANTHASAYANAM MEMORIAL AWARD” on 29th February, 2012 for his continual
effort in organizing camps on diabetes, educating the public and creating
awareness among them for over thirty years.
He
has so far conducted more than 500 such camps in cooperation with Lions Clubs
,Exnora, Pharmaceutical Companies and other Voluntary Organizations in the city
of Chennai and other parts of Tamil Nadu.
A
well-known and successful physician, Dr. Paneerselvam is also a keen
academician. He has been associated with several National and International Conferences.
A
panel of executive committee members of DAI have screened through each and
every nomination and were amazed by the amount of good work done by all in
creating awarness about diabetes. Dr.A.Panneer Selvam is one
of the top 25 shortlisted winners of “Diabetes Awareness Initiative
Award-2015” for the first time in India
,it is a prestigious award.
At
present he is the Chairman for Lion KRS Insulin Bank for Juvenile Diabetics,
Project Coordinator for World Diabetes Foundation (WDF) & Gestational
Diabetes Mellitus Project, Tamil Nadu and the President for Choolaimedu Exnora
and Diabetes Exnora.
His commitment and dedicated service to the society
and for his overwhelming support and cooperation to the Exnora ,I am sure, under Dr. Paneerselvam’s
presidentship, Choolaimedu Exnora will scale further height.
